Colour Correction Foundation by Laikou – The Next Best Thing For Problematic Skin?

I am one of those people that sees a product while browsing Facebook, and immediately believes it’s going to work wonders. I am also someone who suffers with problematic skin – psoriasis, to be precise.

I have suffered with psoriasis for over ten years now, and while I’m always doing my very best to treat it, it’s a condition that I highly doubt will ever go away.

For those who don’t know, psoriasis is an auto immune disease that causes the skin to break out in red and scaly patches on the body. These patches are typically found on the elbows and knees, but mine has got to a point where there’s not a limb on my body that isn’t covered.

Anyway, enough of my sob story and back to the point. As someone who’s always self conscious of the way she looks, make up is a fantastic way of making myself feel better and inject some much needed self esteem into place. However, problematic skin prevents me from doing it to the extent that I’d like to – until now.

I recently saw an advertisement on Facebook showing a foundation that’s moisturising and still provides the coverage like other foundation brands do. Me being me, clicked order pretty much straight away and thought to myself “perhaps this one will work”. It arrived in the post a few days ago and it wasn’t until this morning that I’d had time to test it out properly. Here’s a picture of me a few days ago without the foundation, and then a picture of me this morning after applying it:

You can probably tell where these patches are, and believe me, this isn’t it at it’s worst!

As you can see, the coverage is pretty good!

The Verdict

When I opened the package I felt a little disheartened to see that it looked like a cheap brand that came from China. However, once I’d opened the box I changed my mind as a professional looking pump dispenser bottle was in there.

The box is pretty dented and as you can see, there’s what I assume is Chinese writing on the box – not usually a good sign for make up products in my experience!

Overall, I’ve got to say I’m pretty impressed. Brands that I’ve used in the past have immediately clung onto the dry patches on my face, even after using moisturiser and primer before application. This morning I popped on a little bit of primer and then applied the foundation as I normally would. I’m pleased to say that it hasn’t made the patches very obvious, and I’m pleased with how well it has held up (even after the school run!).

As I was applying it I was also pleasantly surprised at how silky it felt on my skin. Laikou have definitely created a product that works for me. It also has a nice gentle scent to it as well, which is something I usually have to avoid because of my skin.

To Sum Up

I’m fully aware that caking makeup onto my face won’t do my psoriasis any favours, but shouldn’t a girl be able to feel pretty once in a while? I will definitely be using this foundation again, and for those that are interested, here is the link so that you can get your hands on it too! Be wary that it comes out of the pump quite light, but the colour matching particles in it match your skin tone and it soon begins to look amazing as you’re applying it!

If you’ve got problematic skin I would recommend trying this product, but remember that over applying anything that prevents your skin from breathing will cause it to flare up. I hope you find this foundation as good as I have!
